| Vintage Posters
Vintage posters are now often seen occupying spaces where traditional "art prints" would once have been hung. Posters are certainly a natural fit for restaurants and stores. Many home decorators have also become enamored by the classic style inherent in vintage posters.
One of the most popular subsets of vintage posters are reproductions of advertising posters from classic movies. The poster for "Gone with the Wind," for example, is instantly recognizable for its lovely composition and coloring. Posters for the original versions of "Frankenstein" and "Dracula" have an immediate cult appeal. Posters for operas such a Puccini's "Madame Butterfly" and "La Boheme" are also in high demand among culture buffs.
Vintage advertising posters are also very appealing, thanks to the clean, strong designs of these pieces. The poster for "Berger 45" features a view from above of a waiter carrying a tray with a bottle of the liquor, all set off against a gorgeous yellow background. The poster for "Bieres de Chartres" also features a waiter, though a more whimsical one--this server can't help but imbibe from one of the beer steins on his tray. Other examples of this poster form include classic Coca-Cola flyers.
Travel posters are also extremely evocative, particularly those that display a specific places and modes of transportation (like "Holland America Line" and "Egyptian State Railways"). We stock all of these posters and many more here at ARTinaClick.com. These heavily stylized works qualify as much as art as they do as advertising and make for wonderfully idiosyncratic decorations.
