Photography:
Technically an art medium that encompasses many styles, photography has struggled for a century and a half to take its proper place as an art form in its own rite.
We have the finest photographers past and present in support of the argument- photography is art. The developments in digital technology have made this the most exciting time in contemporary photography. As the experimental possibilities of the medium surmount, some photographers opt for a more traditional approach as they capture crisp landscapes and bold, colorful elements of nature. Ansel Adams, in photographs such as Tetons and Snake River and Oak Tree Snowstorm, was a master at achieving perfect tonality and detail in his photographs. Today Peter Adams and Mel Allen capture the beauty of the natural world in their color photographs Milford Sound and Ullswater. Steven Meyers does contemporary explorations of a method of x-ray photography in floral works such as Eucalyptus, A Rose
and Dahlia.
